Birthday Cake! Recipe and Notes

Post Body

First things first:

Birthday Cake

  • 5% FW Yellow Cake*
  • 7% CAP Vanilla Custard V1*
  • 2% FA Fresh Cream

Mixed @ Max VG

Steeping

Don't even taste this after mixing unless it's for future reference or note taking purposes. It's certainly not a shake and vape.

Best left alone after 7-10 days (see notes for explanation).

Good @ 4 days after mixing then immediately hot bathing aggressive shaking, follow with a shake up; couple times a day.

Profile

full, baked, vanilla cake

Full as in a a full flavor, leaves little to the imagination and tastes like it should after steeping.

Baked as in this isn't hot, refreshing, nor raw. Like the way you would describe a muffin. This is like the final baked cookie opposed the dough.

Notes

Before I even start let me address the "*"s because they might brush you the wrong way as too high of flavoring, particularly the Yellow Cake so I want to explain my reasoning there. The Yellow Cake is the base of this recipe and didn't seem to fall apart or magically morph into feces but could probably be dialed down a notch, steeping should be considered an essential ingredient in some recipes this being one of them as it turns the flavors from tasting a bit off to amazing.

The VC % I originally got forever ago from the famous 7.5% VC 2% DdL custard recipe floating around and have since mixed/tasted/tested with it countless times anywhere from 3-7.5% and find standalone 7% makes an excellent custard base that when steeped with this much yellow cake obscures the classic custard notes that one would think this vape would have.

While I'm at it the fresh cream is quite literally the icing on the cake here. It adds sweetness to the full bodied cake going on here. Nothing fancy...yet.

Don't know if the profile really helps in describing this but I would compare it to this Baskin Robbins flavor because that's exactly what it tastes like. At first it has that playdoh taste that Cap VC gives in high percentages off the bat but it melds well after about three days with no speed steeping introduced. After four or five days depending on how "MAX VG" you make it tastes like initially intended and seems to plateau off which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Final Thoughts

After steeping and tasting a few times a day from day 1-14 and I think this would make a great base if toned down in percentages by a third or so as is this recipe is a great stand alone however. I plan on adding some fruits, reducing percentages for a more balanced flavor, and playing with additives next chance I have to mix but I'm on vacation and that might be a while so without further ado I hand this simple recipe off to you /r/DIY_eJuice

On an unrelated note; from time to time (at least twice a week) I come to splurge on this subreddit, reading every thread I can regardless of topic or ratings just to learn more and familiarize myself with the progress and developments made on the DIY juice scene and to ballpark where I want to head with my flavors and profiles as I can definitely be put in the category of vapers who simply doesn't have a single staple ADV so this hobby allows me to experiment with a wide variety of profiles and find my flavors of the week or occasionally something that will last a month or so without spending countless dollars on what will most likely be wasted ml's. It's about to hit 9 months of DIY for me and I'd like to start actively contributing to as soon as I get back from vacation. I couldn't wait to see the reaction for this and was hoping some could play around with adding fruits and balancing it out to their own liking in the mean while :D
