So I'm not the most DIY person in the world but one if those I'll give anything a go people who havnt a fkn clue what Im doing. So I just bought my first house and I put up a lot of shelves, light fixtures etc. You know the 'easy' stuff. Everything has been fine for 2 and a half years but now the shelf collapsed and wiped out everything. It isn't a normal shelf. Its 16 kilos books etc. See image. So basically it very heavy. I followed the Ikea instructions and thought I did a good job, except its a wooden stud wall and I didnt hit the studs just because of how its positioned over the tv, its impossible unless it misaligned. Now I'm kinda questioning my work and looking around wondering what else is about to come down on my head. My question is:
A) Am I an idiot that should find a real man to teach me how to put up shelves etc and stay away before I kill someone
B) Sht happens. It can happen to the best of us. Just repair the wall and put it up again
C) You fkd up a bit. Here is how to put it up properly
EDIT - I forgot to add. Its a new house and the owner/plaster said they used extra thick plasterboard that should allow to hang things. Is this bull. Or did they mean it will take a picture not 20 kgs
