I recently had some plumbing/gas work done in my kitchen. I had a built in gas hob installed (like for like replacement in the same place as the old one). I had a freestanding dishwasher installed (like for like in the same place as the old one). I had a freestanding washing machine installed (like for like, existing pipe run directly through the wall to the utility room). -All appliances were purchased separately.
I received an invoice for £800. The materials only cost £145 of this and the rest was labour. As I was out of the house when the work was done, I can’t comment on how long it took but according to the invoice, it took 2 workers (one of which was an apprentice) 9 hours to do these three appliances.
I do not have much knowledge of plumbing, gas, joinery etc but after some research online, most sources said a gas hob only takes 1-2 hours for one person to install. Perhaps I am completely wrong and this is accurate but I was really surprised when I opened the invoice and seen that it was that amount.
Any information or advice is greatly appreciated.
