Not sure why my second attempt was less successful... But hey, it's dual density with a suction cup!
Post Body

So this was my second attempt at making a dildo from a resin 3D print.

I wanted dual density with a suction cup. The core came out pretty well, except I had to break the mold to get it out! The little nodules around the base of the core are there to align the core when inserted into the outer mold.

The outer casting didn't go quite as well. I'm not sure why... I'm wondering if the Smooth-On silicone is more sensitive to the petroleum jelly that I used to seal the two halves then the Clone a Willy silicone. I also had to use an old fan to weigh the suction cup mold down while the outer cured so it didn't lose its shape.

I ended up touching up the cracks and bubbles with silicone and a paint brush so it looks a bit more respectable, but I definitely need to buy a vacuum chamber and pump before I try again.

I'm also going to revise both molds. The core mold will be simplified and made so the suction cup can be thicker. And I think the outer mold will work better if I can start with the core inserted, then pour the silicone in through the balls.

Another takeaway: let the silicone cure for 24hrs before opening the molds! Don't get impatient. The core was super floppy when I opened it up after 6 hours. I thought I'd screwed it up, but when I woke up the next day it had fully hardened and was very firm.
