Floor sagging need advice. What type and weight capacity of jack is needed?
Post Body

House has been in my family for decades and I’m trying to save it. It has 3 floors (basement, 1st, and 2nd floor. Also an attic).

I looked in the basement and there are several areas where a beam or board has settled or sagged. Mostly in the center of the house, but I didn’t look at every single part of the basement.

One beam in particular that runs under a bathroom worries me. I figure I need 2 jacks to raise each side of where this board and then prop it up with one of those metal poles (whatever they are called).

Can I just get a bunch of 6 ton jacks. Or is that not safe? Do I need heavier duty jacks? I assume bottle style jacks work fine.

Is there anything else I should be considering?
