I'll be using carriage bolts to attach a 2x4 flat against a structure with one-inch spaced holes. The final load weight isn't significant and I feel two bolts at each end would be sufficiently strong, but to err on the side of caution I'm considering three. Would 3 bolts an inch apart be stronger?
