If you don't mind recoating every so often they make hydrophobic sprays for just about every surface. Just don't set wet dishes on it.

If you are trying to keep visible water away? Saucers for sponge And other such sink stuff and a towel for spills work amazing.

If you're concerned and out the wood getting damaged. Get some sealant. (Or stain and seal if you are concerned about color.) And apply generously. (Deep cracks can be calked.) A good seal will last for several years without needing reapply, but I reseal the hardwood in my bathroom every 5 years.
