Questions about adding a DIY kitchenette/kitchen to the basement suite

Post Body

We are planning to add a DIY small kitchen to our basement suite. It is a small area, so we are thinking of doing a small pre-made cabinet, maybe a stovetop, and a fridge. To add some context, here's the picture of where we will add the kitchen (in the corner): https://imgur.com/a/7OTPpQS

The basement supposedly has water and gas too (main floor has a gas cooktop), here's picture of the pipes I could find in the basement: https://imgur.com/a/Mm2d9NE (placement are behind the two boxes in the picture above). However, we think gas stovetop/oven might be a headache to install, that's why we are thinking of electric stove top.

Here are the questions:

  1. How can we install a hood/range vent above the stove top? The first picture here shows that the area is next to a bathroom. Is the bathroom vent what could be used? What is the mechanism to add a new vent above the stove top, is new vent channel needed?
  2. Sink: How can we have a sink in the new kitchen? Is one of the water pipes a sink? Again because the area is next to a bathroom I supposed there is some infrastructure that can be reused, but not sure if that makes sense?

Thanks in advance for any information.

P.S. Note to admins: I see in the Subreddit rules that only finished projects are accepted. However, I couldn't find a subreddit for questions like this I see other posts in this reddit asking for suggestions too. I hope the post doesn't get removed.
