Correcting bad first coat on flooring

Post Body
First coat of mini wax stain looks terrible. Itβs a little dull but Iβm hoping a second coat and some poly will brighten it up. How do I apply stain without seeing all the overlap? I used a 3inch Purdy brush. And would sanding get rid of these for the second coat?? Should I be rolling instead of brushing? Any help is much appreciated
