Post Body

Michigan home built around 1900. Pic is of doorway area where I was removing laminate flooring. Upon removing I found that the original tongue and groove wood floor was a little wobbly. After cutting the section out, I found that the original hand cut log beam that the joists fit the notches to had twisted and shrunk causes a small gap between flooring and beam. The beam seems to be fine still. I guess my question is this, when I go to place new wood in from where I cut out, do you suggest I just shim it to help it be level??
