I’d like to turn our upstairs spare bedroom into an office. As part of that I’d like to get a cable outlet up there so I can have a TV while working and put our router/modem there so it’s out of the way of everything else. We also have an outlet in the living room that doesn’t work.

I’ve hired two electricians who say they do work with coax cable. They both insisted they could get the job done.

Both showed up without their “cable testing tools.” Admittedly the wiring inside the walls appears to be a bit all over the place. One guy said he probably restored an outlet downstairs, but quite honestly I haven’t had a chance to check. Neither could figure out how the outlet in the living room is fed, so that’s still broken.

I’m out $1k.

Comcast won’t touch anything on the interior of the house. They say that’s not their thing.

I get that it probably won’t be a cheap job. I also didn’t think I’d have this much trouble finding someone who could give me some answers.

Do any of y’all have advice? Thanks in advance.
