my new psychiatrist seems very kind and experienced but has interesting beliefs about DID
Post Body

so i met my new psychiatrist and i really like her and the diagnoses she gave me are what i already thought i had. however when we talked about did she said that ā€œpureā€ did is caused by brain lesions that you have when youā€™re born, and that most psychiatrists in my area wonā€™t diagnose did as did but instead as cptsd-ds (dissociative subtype) to avoid stigmatization and refusal of treatment. basically she told me that she believes based off 1 article she read that ā€œpureā€ did is not created through trauma and that there are people who have did who have no trauma. iā€™ve been avoiding posting this to avoid putting myself in an echo chamber. i did ask her for her source and she gave me an article, but itā€™s been hard to get through for obvious reasons. i really like her despite this and iā€™m trying to figure out if thereā€™s any sort of validity in what she said.
