With the temperatures on the decline, warm drinks are on the rise. The warmest of drinks that I know of is a nice steaming mug of hot cocoa. With enough sugar this drink is sure to satisfy your tummy and your energy meter( 1,563 energy to be exact). Here's how to make this treat incase you don't have it in your recipes already.
1 Sugarcane
1 Milk
1 Cocoa Bean
Although the recipe picture shows marshmallows, there are a variety of toppings one can add to make the perfect cup of hot cocoa. My personal favorite is adding extra chocolate and whipped cream. Here's a few different ways to enjoy your hot cocoa and I think they are even better than the game's recipe. The serving for the recipe below is for just 1 but you can always double, triple, or quadruple the ingredients to have enough for family and friends. As always, Happy cooking! And I wish everyone a very Happy Holidays!
Stovetop Hot Cocoa:
1 Tablespoon of sugar or sweetener of choice( sugar ratio is to taste so you can add more or less)
1 Tablespoon of unsweetened cocoa powder
2 Tablespoons of semi sweet chocolate chips or small chunks
1 Cup of milk( whole milk is recommended for better consistency but can be substituted for milk of choice)
A drop of vanilla extract
In a saucepan on medium heat, combine milk, cocoa powder, sugar (unless it's artificial sweetener then add to the end to avoid a harsh taste), and chocolate. Stir till all the chocolate is dissolved and consistency is smooth. Remove from heat and then add in a drop of vanilla( also the artificial sweeteners if applicable). Serve with your favorite toppings and enjoy!
Mexican Hot Cocoa:
Using the same recipe above, substitute the semi-sweet chocolate for bitter-sweet. Add a dash of nutmeg, cinnamon and cayenne pepper while melting the chocolate.
Mint Hot Cocoa:
Easy peasy lemon squeezy, just substitute the chocolate for Andes Chocolate mints and top with whipped cream and crushed candy cane pieces.
