[May Have Spoilers]

Just saw the Green Lantern movie for the first time. And it honestly was an okay movie. I don't think it deserved to get trashed as much as it did. Solid acting on the part of everyone for what the movie actually is: a quick superhero origin movie. It's not supposed to be Superman, Batman, X-Men, Power Rangers, Judge Dredd or Dark Man. It's Green Lantern. Sure those Warner Premier animated GL movies were far better as far as plot and (voice) acting. Especially Justice League: New Frontier. However, I don't see how they would have made a live action GL movie any other way.

The only problem I have with it is that Ryan Reynolds and his wife seem to be kind of smirking the whole movie. Or maybe it's just hard to take them semi-seriously after all their other roles. Maybe the odd way Hector becomes infected and connected to Paralax. Maybe. But they explain it. And that the mask could have been better.

Some things were too tiny and spacious. I would have liked for the Guardians' chamber to be much tighter. Don't see why they should be dots on the screen unless speaking. Oa should have had less of a barren, semi organic look. Couldn't make sense of the world I saw. But a guess they were trying to emphasize the vastness of space with all of that.

But I don't see why this movie was so widely panned. Not unless you really want to nitpick over the things I mentioned. That and the kind of Jerry Bruckheimer/Michael Bay look of it.

It's like a serious 'The Mask'. They pretty much have the same abilities but GL is playing for higher stakes on a larger scale.

First time I saw Taika Waititi's actual face on screen. That was cool. Director of Thor: Ragnarok and voice of Korg from that movie. Also the voice of IG-11 from the first season of the Mandalorian.
