It's something I've always kind of wondered. I'm personally not a fan of the trope, just because it feels a bit overdone lately (Omniman, Homelander, etc, etc not gonna go on). That isn't to say I don't mind seeing Superman being percieved as a villain, or threat (My Adventures with Superman handles that really well, and I love it). But full blown Villain status just feels....ooky to me. I like my boy scouts to keep being "I'm gonna try to do no wrong!" Type of people, lol. It makes me feel better about the world we live in.
I'm not saying that your wrong for liking it, or even preferring it, if you do. I'd just like to know what about the trope you like? And who is your favorite Evil Superman? (I will say Injustice Superman was pretty justified in how he snapped. I think any of the other comic boyscouts would have an extremely similar reaction.) Now that isn't to say I don't mind evil Kryptonians. I think that can be fun, and a real challenge to Clark's morals.
Edit: Thanks for the perspective, and responses. I'd never really understood the draw until now. Still not my thing in terms of story telling, but I definitely have a better appreciation. Thanks for keeping it civil folks. Y'all rock! 🤘
