Hello all!
This is a mini-rant lol. I’ve been a DCEU fan from 2016 till the present. I’ve seen every DCEU movie in theaters the first day they premiered and i survived the great Twitter wars of the Snyder and Hamada era. I’ve been down with the DCEU and a starch supported and advocate for DC and WB. I’ve defended them from what I considered to be bias against DC in favor of the MCU, I’ve argued none stop in the past. I even worked for two publications writing about the DCEU because I felt that the studios and the characters don’t get enough credit for the amazing work they’ve done. However in the last two years I have become tiresome of how DC decided to run things. I feel that DC continues to hire people who are too directly involved with the DCEU(meaning directing and writing films) so much so that they put their own interests in front of the greater interests of the IP. I don’t dislike James Gunn, I think that he’ll do fine with his plans for the DCEU, however I don’t think he or DC was smart in their plans to scrap all of the former DCEU plans and movies to usher in Gunn’s era. It makes no sense for the DCEU to have shelved Mamoa’s Aquaman and Margot’s Harley Quinn. I don’t think people remember that Harley was probably the most popular comic book character from 2016-2018 and Aquaman made a billion, the only true DCEU movie to make a billion. Even Aquaman 2 made double its budget with virtually no promo and a trailer released 2 months before the film premiered. This was just a dumb decision for Gunn and DC to make. Some would argue that they had to reboot the universe, that would make sense if Gunn wasn’t going to keep Peacmaker in the DCEU. He also gave such a flimsy ass answer when pressed on how Peacemaker S2 would be cannon while keeping the majority of the cast. I’m going to see Joker 2 tomorrow and this is the first DCEU movie I’m not excited for. I’m just tired of the company seemingly doing everything they possibly can to ruin their own brand.
