CV vs. copper IUD - my 2-week experience
Post Body

I just got a copper IUD inserted two weeks ago and my biggest fear was having worsened CV symptoms (my doctor who diagnosed me with CV said that could happen). My symptoms are cyclical, milder to non-existent when I’m on my period, worsened after my period, better around ovulation and then worsened in my luteal phase. My main symptoms when I’m flaring are white, abundant discharge with white clumps which I figure them to be shedding cells from the vaginal walls and burning. Feels like a chemical burn, like when you burn your skin with a chemical or skincare acid. It burns when I have sex and burns when I pee. Since I put my copper IUD, I didn’t have any symptoms which surprised me. Currently in my luteal phase right now and I’m feeling ok. I read copper is bacteriostatic and copper does get released from the uterus to the cervix and vaginal canal through secretions but I have no idea if it’s the copper keeping the lactobacilli in check. Who knows?
