Post-Transplant antibodies/chronic rejection?
Post Body

Hi everyone!

I’m almost scared to make this post. I’ve beem having a really hard time processing everything.

So last March, in 2017, my fiance had his double lung transplant at Duke University at age 26. This March, of 2018, they told him his body had grown antibodies to fight his lungs.

He’s gone through Rat-g, IVIG, cafaramib? I dunno how to spell it, and now plasma-faresis. Nothing has killed them. Duke told him there’s nothing more they can do, that the antibodies are too strong and they won’t retransplant because of that.

Does anyone else have experience with this? Good or bad? We of course want to look at other clinics, get second opinions, do everything we can because the thought of losing my best friend is killing me.

Thank you all for any help :)
