So Many Brands of Bibs BUT One Commonality

So I see a lot of love for different brands of bibs and hate towards other brands and the chamois pads but after so much research almost all the companies use the same company for their chamois pads. The company? Elastic Interface and they have a standard men's and woman's linups of pads that all these companies use "off the shelf". Assos is the one company that uses EI but uses a proprietary pad that the rest of the companies can't use. So if all these companies use EI's off the shelf chamois pads what makes one company more comfortable over the other? Is it the way its sewn in?
