No cert or degree, too soon to jobhunt?

I am currently working at a dead end job that has nothing to do with cyber security. The only reason I’ve kept it is because its flexible with hours so I can work on a degree, etc. Is it too soon to look for a job in cyber security? Should I wait until I get a good cert first? Or am I better off looking for a desk job just to look better on my resume than the dead end job? Or is job history not as important in this field?
