Hi guys! I need serious help! So my mother is a housewife and she was not feeling good about lately and wanted to earn money for herself. I thought it would be a good idea to create a resume for her and apply to jobs.

I ended up applying to many jobs appropriate for her domain. Most of them rejected her application. Then I decided to apply to work from home jobs for freshers and housewives etc. On LinkedIn. She gotany calls and most of em asked for a registration fee. I immediately told her they are fraud.

But one of em did not ask for money and she was like i am going to do it. I warned her cuz those ppl seemed a bit shady to me but i was like as long as they don't ask for money may be you are good.

While registering they asked for her adhar card and other details. They told my mom she had to follow all their policies and if she doesn't they will ask her money. I was like dont go through it no one asks for money if u dont follow any company's policy. She was adamant and went through it. I also thought lets give it a shot. They told my mom she will have to fill 600 forms in 6 days and she will get 25000 rs if the work is completed.

She went through everything and the policies were very STRANGE to me. They specifically told my mom that she cannot change laptop while working in these 6 days and the laptop or computer which she would use to log in for the first time she will have to use the same for the rest 6 days. And she was told the wifi she would connect the computer with for the first time she would have to use the same for the rest 6 days. I told my mom whatever you want to do YOU WILL NOT be using my laptop because they clearly want to steal data or hack idk.

She was like she has no other option because the other desktop we have in office were not repaired and eventually I had to give my laptop.

When she started working we tried to change wifi and nothing happened but I thought it would be safe if I turn on the vpn. The moment we logged in they called my mom saying you changed wifi dont do it again.

We got scared and she used the same one she used the first time. I downloaded Firefox and then made her work on it after a while cuz I got scared chrome has all my data.

Fast forward to today, they blocked my mom's profile and said she did not follow the policies. She changed from chrome to Firefox and she also did not log out when her work was done ONCE. And they now asking her for 9000 inr for server damages and 10000 inr to terminate her account.

They were very ill mannered and had long fights with my dad and my mom. My dad told my mom eventually to ask for their bank details instead of phonepe and gpay just to get the bank detail and see if they can get the details to make a complaint and they refused to give saying they have no bank account. Now they are saying if they don't get any money then they will file a case and send legal notice and she will have to go to Gujarat court and pay 1 lakh and she will not be able to travel anywhere after that. Apparently the company is from gujrat. They pretending to be a legit company by creating a website and sending long ass emails with legal policies and stuff.

The sad part is I tried to contact cyber crime ppl of gujrat and my state but NO HELP.

They kept calling continuously after asking for bank details but we did not pick. For now we haven't given any money

BUT THE MAIN PART IS I AM SCARED ABOUT MY LAPTOP AND MY DATA AM I HACKED WHAT SHOULD I DO?? PLS I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE IF SOMEONE CAND GIVE ME ADVICE. I HAVE DELETED FIREFOX AND CHROME BUT IDK WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO HAVE THEY ALREADY ACCESSED MY DATA. THEY KNEW EVERYTHING LIKE WE USING CHROME AND FIREFOX AND SHIT I WOULD APPRECIATE LEGAL ADVICE TOO REGARDING THIS MATTER.
