Senior CSM here with 2 years of experience based in NYC. I broke into CX after moving to NYC 2.5 years ago from being an internal hire previously being an SDR, so I don't have any direct experience landing a new CSM role at a new company in NYC and I've been struggling to gain any traction doing so recently. My confidence in my job search for my next position is diminishing, as I feel like simply applying with cover letters for roles based in NYC on LinkedIn and Indeed is barely getting me any interviews.
I know the job market is extremely competitive across the country which sets my chances back by default, but NYC is particularly difficult to even get interviews because of how dense and competitive the candidate pool is here. I am convinced that there must be a better way to get better recognition from recruiters and hiring managers that I'm not fully aware of.
What has worked successfully for those of you who have been recently hired as a CSM in nyc? did you get assistance from contracted recruiters? how can I level-up my application and networking game? Any advice would be so appreciated!
