Hi, I was approved by the court to relocate to Portland July 1st but my ex issued a challenge to the schools in my neighborhood and asked to enroll the kids near him in Tualatin (suburb of Portland, half an hour from my house). This is still waiting for a hearing but I learned today that my ex went ahead and enrolled the kids in schools in Tualatin. When I called my lawyer to find out what to do, I learned she is out of the country for three weeks (thanks for letting me know in the middle of the case that you're leaving, geez). I'll get a new lawyer asap but I want to know if there's any potential fallout from this. My new partner is worried that my ex will look proactive and that the judge will appreciate his initiative and thus allow the kids to go to school in Tualatin. I don't think that's likely, but I also don't want to tick the judge off if I enroll the kids in Portland schools, which was my idea for a response. I'm not sure how long it will take me to get a new lawyer up and running -- I'm moving from rural WA state to Oregon and it is a battle to find lawyers where I used to live, so I might have to get one out of Seattle at this point. Let me know what you think I should do in the meantime. TIA.
