So as the title states, I am taking Spironolactone and Ozempic for some of my hormonal symptoms.
The Spironolactone is supposed to help regrow scalp hair loss. I have been on it for literal years, and I have been on every dosage strength imaginable for like a year at a time (a year for each dose I try). The most I have ever gotten from the medication is the tiniest, most minimal, barely even detectable amount of hair regrowth on the sides of my head. But you can still obviously see my scalp through my hair (or what's left of my hair), including on the sides, and when my hair is in a ponytail, you can literally see entire strips/rows of scalp that span my entire head. It literally looks like a combover that is going front to back instead of side to side. I'm sick of walking around like this!! I have told Dr. F about Spironolactone not working several times and he won't do anything about it. My thyroid and Vitamin D levels are both fine, by the way.
And my experience with Ozempic hasn't been any better. I've been on Ozempic for at least a year, and my insurance wont cover any of the other semiglutide brands. My appetite hasn't slowed down ONE BIT. I've actually gained 5 pounds recently! I crave as much food as possible every second of every day, and I would literally eat every waking second of every single day if I didn't know any better. It takes every once of willpower I have to try to control what I eat, and this is NOT from anxiety/depression. I started off at the .25 mg dose, and that didn't work after 6ish months. So now I'm at the .50 dose, and after 6 months, that hasn't worked. So I'm fighting with my insurance to cover the 1 mg dose, and I'll start that soon. But I'm starting to see a common thread here. No matter what dose I'm on, the medications don't work!!
I know I have 2 pituitary tumors on my pituitary gland. They aren't very big from what I recall. But could they be to blame for medications not working??
I have had the dex suppression test and countless urinaries and salivaries, and all were normal. I have had every test imaginable, some multiple times, and they all come back normal. So Dr. F says I dont have Cushing's. But I don't quite fit the bill for PCOS either, as my gynecologist says. My periods are on time and not painful, I don't have blood sugar issues, normal blood tests, and no cysts show up on scans. The only potential cause left is my pit tumors.
Can someone help shed some light on this?? TIA!!
