So I don't know if I'm allowed to mention doctor names in here, but I've been seeing a certain Dr. F for a year or two now. He's the one out in California who doesn't take insurance of any kind. The one who does televisits and is often booked out for months at a time. The one who puts you on 4 or 5 herbal supplements. He's supposed to be the best endocrinologist out there. IYKYK.
At first, he was great. My first appointment with him was phenomenal. He found a brain tumor when no one else did. And he willingly ordered metric tons of testing.
But over the months, he seems to be less and less helpful. It's not so much that he outright doesn't listen or is particularly awful, but he just doesn't seem to be worth the out-of-pocket cost anymore. During my last phone appointment with him, he said, "Sometimes you can have all the symptoms of Cushing's and not have Cushing's." WTF?? And that's all he said. He didn't offer anything else.
I've already told him that the Spironolactone has only minimally helped my hair loss, and it hasn't stemmed facial hair growth at all. I've already told him that the herbal supplements dont seem to be doing anything. And I've actually gained a little weight on Ozempic (if I increase the dose, my blood sugar crashes and I don't keep ANYTHING down.) He goes back and forth between PCOS and possible Cushing's, but he can't seem to make up his mind. And I have gotten a high on my urinary cortisol test, but I guess he ignored that??
I need to go about this in a different way. This isn't working, and Dr. F. doesn't seem to want to do anything different. I think it's time to find a new endocrinologist ... again. Does anyone know a good one who accepts Ambetter insurance? I don't drive due to other issues, so televisits would be ideal. I am in Georgia if that helps. Please help! Thanks!!
P.S., if it helps, I also have EDS and a host of other issues. Not sure if that makes a difference. Thanks!
