I dm a party of new players and i decided CoS was where we would start.

Poor dice rolls on my part let them breeze through death house, they went in barovia and stole everything they could, when Strahd showed up at the graveyard they let him take Ismark because they were upset he didnt pay them up front and they only took Ireena to Vallaki because she lied and said Father Petrovich was wealthy and he would pay them when she got there.

They were pretty pissed to find out Petrovich wouldnt pay them until they found the missing bones of St. Andral but they went and did it, almost killed Milivoj even before asking him what he knew, and then through more crappy rolls from me they survived the feast of St. Andral without a scratch.

They were even more pissed when they found out Petrovich didnt have any money for them so they went and got drunk at the blue water and tried to figure out how to break into Rictavios room with no success because they thought thats where the money would be.

So I added my sister to the campaign, a long time player with some common sense and she accidentally pointed them at the windmill because she didn't realize they hadn't spoken to Vasilli yet, so now they are off to the windmill.

They spoke to morgantha who shooed them off after talks didnt work and I thought that would be the end of it, but no. They wanted to rob her.

So im like fuckit, ok ill have them get tpk'd and wake up captive of the hags and send them to bring the hags eye to Cyrus.

Fight is going south, almost killed the whole party when the Bard heals the Arcane Trickster out of his death saves, and this motherfucker who has done nothing but rob, rape, steal, and pillage, gets his ass up and casts minor illusion. He fuckin casts minor illusion to make an illusion of Strahd standing over the druid in front of Morgantha and she fails her save and thinks its actually him. She and her sisters bail out in fear and the whole party survives and now i have to rewrite the next few sessions because one of my goddamn murderhobos did something amazing and i have never been so proud as a DM.
