Greetings fellow DMs. My players have been exploring Vallaki the past few sessions. This is my first time running the city as my last group disbanded as soon as they arrived.

So I've been reading mandymod and dragnacarta's guides and have been incorporating parts of their guides in my games. I liked the orphanage hook and wanted to put it in. In my effort to blend these elements and juggle multiple npcs and quests I may have mixed things up a bit.

My main issue is my players have went to the orphanage before discovering that the bones beneath the church are missing. The players questioned the headmistress who told them about cedrick dying a few nights ago and about the sick gravedigger. They investigated the sickly gravedigger and determined he was possessed by a demon (the paladin used detect thoughts on him and I had a voice speak to him in abyssal). They waited till night and decided to carry him across town to the blue water inn to see if Van Richten (their ally they uncovered with some detective work) could cure him. On they way Izek confronted them but they passed their deception checks and said they found the boy drunk and were taking him to sleep it off. The party has also been asked by Fiona Wachter to kill Izek.

They make it to Van Richten who yells at them for being so foolish, but in the end tells them the boy is been fed on by a demonic presence but he is not possessed. So they know the demon is still at the orphanage. They immediately suspect the headmistress. Our last session ended here.

Other important details. Vasilli has begun his work on wooing Ireena who is now at the church. The party has found Izeks dolls and really wants him dead and is very suspicious of him. I've not yet revealed the bones are missing. The party knows Victor has been using magic on Stella but they have yet to meet him. The party loves Fiona and trusts her fully.

Anyway I'm not sure if I've messed up or not. I figure I'll have father lucian tell them he discovered the bones missing in the morning. Hopefully that won't muddy things too much. Perhaps I'll also have Izek kidnap Ireena. Maybe have Vasilli help rescue her. Any ideas or thoughts I truly appreciate. Thanks!
