Post Body

I recently wrapped up my first run through of CoS and I loved it! Certainly some things I would change next time through but that’s a different story for a different time. I wanted share the conclusion of my game because well, I loved it, and more importantly my players did too. There was a warlock in the party with Cthulhu patron. Cthulhu did not bestow it’s power on him, the player unlocked a fragment of his power while searching through old tomes. This creature how no clue this changeling was leeching his power. Until the Amber Temple. After spending a few days (yeah, I know) in the temple Cthulhu began to sense great darkness emanating around a vessel that was borrowing some of his powers. He finally spoke to his warlock, desperately wanting to “build his church here.” In the night, while the others slept he led the warlock to a vestige containing...can’t recall the name...but the one that boosted his Charisma score. For the rest of the game, the other players could tell something was off about it but never rolled better than a deception check of the warlock to discern what it was. Immediately after Strahd was killed, the warlock said “my turn” and cast Fly on himself and left the castle. The stunned group simply closed up their loose ends and after spending a few days looking for the warlock they left. I then said “6 years later...” the group has retired from adventuring and is going on with their lives in and around Waterdeep until one day an older looking Ismark arrived. He claimed the mists has returned and he needed help. A greater threat now rules. Upon finding their way back, they saw a massive 50 foot tall six legged creature slowly moving over what was the village of Barovia (think Stranger Things meets Winter Splinter). Even from the fallen village they could see a massive effigy rising to the clouds in Vallaki. The former church now converted to a mass of slurping tentacles that reached the heavens. Home to their ole friend. A new adventure begins as an old curse awakens...
