Are barovian minted electrum pieces valued in the sword coast?

My players sided with strahd after he asked them to bring him Rudolf and Ireena. To sweeten the deal, if they get both..Strahd will make sure the players will be "well compensated" after they leave barovia.

I was thinking, it'd be pretty evil to give them 1,500 barovian electrum coins as a reward..then they cross over, and the coins are absolutely worthless.

Would this be a good idea? I think it'd be hilarious, since one of my party members absolutely loves gold(to the point he's stolen other players gold several times). It would also be a good way to punish them for siding with Strahd.
