My party is tearing apart and it is leaking into real life
Post Body

So I may have been doing too good a job of sowing discord amongst the party. Now I'm at a place where two players seem to actually not like each other out of game. This is even worse because 4 of us are all coworkers. Including the 2 fighting.

So basically what happened is our ranger walked away from the group during the old bonegrinder fight. She was a cannibal and had no desire to hurt the hags. So while the rest of the party was getting their asses kicked she walks off with her bodyguard (both in game and out) who was polymorphed into a newt. On the way out she told them to "eat the blonde one first."

The blonde in reference is our party cleric, and also our Tatyana. She is very attached to her character and is super into roleplaying. It is also both of their first times playing D&D. After the ranger left with the fighter the rest of the party got demolished, as expected at level 3. Had she stayed the results would have been the same.

So I have strahd come and kill 2 hags for capturing his beloved. He makes Morgantha let the captured party free. So they make their way to Vallaki where the ranger and fighter are. When they see each other a verbal confrontation takes place in the bar. The ranger was not present so we had her on the phone. (Bad call by me) The cleric proceeded to tell the ranger over the phone that she was holding a vote to kick her from the group. And even if she apologized that wouldn't be enough. Then a few other chimed in mad at the ranger, the fighter defended her in and out of game close friend a few other people all started arguing.

This is when the ranger says she can't do this anymore and is getting super anxious and upset in real life. I stop the call and end the session. I talk to the ranger after and she tells me at work the cleric has been treating her like she doesn't like her. Idk how true this is, but it's an issue regardless.

The ranger and the fighter also feel jealous of the cleric because she has taken on a more prominent position in the story. As such if she can't make it we didn't play without her, but we did play when the ranger couldn't make it. (Which she frequently can't make it). It also doesn't help the ranger is a very anxious person in real life and doesn't really participate in the game without much coaxing. Even then she doesn't participate much. Therefore she mostly sits silent while the outgoing cleric does a lot.

My idea I want to try is to have the guard hear the conflict going on and break it up and send the group to the reformation center that mandymod created in their guide. There the characters will have a group therapy session followed by a team building exercise. I was thinking of having some characters swap sheets for a session and doing a mini dungeon crawl as themselves but in changed bodies.

Idk I'll gladly take any suggestions. All of them claim to really enjoy the game and want it to continue.
