Looking for opinions about what to do with Escher

I've been thinking of giving Escher a bigger role in my campaign by having him come in the black carriage to retrieve Doru and have the party meet him for the first time but I'm to sure how to play Escher in this encounter, I do want to use this chance to explain some of who Strahd is and some of the new rules of Barovia (like how Vampires can travel in the day time).

So in short does anyone have any suggestions on how to characterize Escher in a way where he can give some exposition without just being a lore dump.
