Here are some prompts I wrote for the Flesh Mound's Cultists Depravity Action in the boss fight with the suggestions from MandyMod. Let me know what you think of them. Hopefully they can be of some use for you guys as you engage in the final fight.

Cultists Sacrifice:

  1. You grab your head as your mind spins from an unnatural force. You begin to see a vision taking shape in your mind. Images of the same figures that currently line the walls of this chamber in their black robes. You hear chanting and a young woman chained to the alter strung up high. She's bleeding from her face, blood dripping down her as she lowers her head from exhaustion. A hooded figure next to her on the alter picks up a familiar dagger and begins to peel away at the flesh of her chest cavity exposing the underlying muscle and bone. The young woman screams in agony for what feels like eternity and with a final thrust from the hooded figure the dagger buries itself within her chest cavity. The body of the young woman goes limp and blood spurts from the cavity as the hooded figure removes the blade from where it was plunged.

Cultists Cannibalism:

  1. Your eyes roll back in your head and an dark power consumes you as you receive a vision of a prison. A man emaciated and shackled cowers in fear as a lantern held by a hooded figure reveals the mans gaunt face as the light flickers across it. You see fear, desperation and finally horror as the man is unshackled and dragged from his cell. Blackness. Then another vision this time a table, the same man lays upon it, you see he is struggling to break free of the restraints on him. A hooded figure standing behind the table reveals a long serrated dagger and begins cutting away at large chunks of flesh only stopping when bone is reached. The man wails uncontrollably passing out from immense pain. The hooded figure begins cutting into the bone. Blackness. a final vision. A familiar place. The dining room you rested in. Littered with bones and figures around a table eating a meal together. Upon the table is the prepared remains of what you can now see as the shackled man being devoured piece by piece.

Walter's Final Moment:

  1. Your vision blurs as you step back to catch yourself. In an instant you are transported to another time. A distant memory. a child lay on the alter crying softly. A hooded figure removes their hood to reveal a familiar face. The living, breathing face of Mrs. Durst. Chanting begins. It is deafening.

"He is Ancient, He is the Land."

Mrs. Durst raises her head to the ceiling arms up with a dagger in one hand. She exclaims over the repeating chants,

"Lord Strahd, the Devil of this land. I give unto you the precious gift of an innocent life. May you favor us with immortality. Grant us a dark gift and remake us in your image".

She swiftly drives the dagger down towards the alter with force and determination. The child is still. Blood begins to pour down the sides of the alter filling in the images of Ghasts that have been intricately carved into the stone work. Chanting stops. There is silent. you see a wall of blue and purple flowing light burst into the room and it overtakes you. You are thrust back into the present with the massive flesh mound and your party surrounding you.

Prisoners and their Meals:

  1. Your eyes go black as night, widen and you are lost to the darkness. You immerge in a dimly lit room filled with bars lining the long hallway into complete blackness. you see a hooded figure carrying a large bucket. Hanging from the sides of the bucket are what looks to be bloodies appendages. Severed arms with limp hands and fingers bouncing as the figure walks the hall and legs with feet attached and dripping with thick coagulated blood. The figure stops. Takes an arm and tosses it at the foot of one of the barred rooms off the hall.

You peer deeply into the dimly lit room and from the darkness a head, long black hair, unkept, greasy and knotted emerges. then a hand and an arm. Thin and frail. Skin to bone and ghastly white. The hand reaches out to grab the severed arm pulling it through the bars. Another hand emerges from the darkness to part the black nest of hair hiding a ghaunt, dirty, and badly bruised young womans face. The severed arm makes its way to her mouth and the sounds of raw flesh being ripped apart fill your ears. The woman sinks back into the darkness and the severed arm disappears into the black void with her. The blackness of your eyes peels back revealing your iris and pupils, your eyes narrow again and you find yourself back in the alter chamber with your party.

Rose and Thorn's Final Night:

  1. Your head is knocked back by an unknown force clouding your vision. You lose yourself in the moment. As you regain your composure you look straight ahead. Gone is the Alter chamber and your friends. You're in a childrens bedroom, dark with only moonlight entering from a small glass stained slit in the bedroom. It is enough to cast a light onto two children sitting in the center of the room. As the moon shines through the stained glass you can see it illuminate the faces of the small children you know as Rose and Thorn. They sit in the room, looking at each other. Pale and gaunt. Mist flows from their mouths as a cold chill overtakes you.

You see tears begin to roll down Rose's cheeks as the moonlight is caught in watery reflection. She reaches out to gently wrap Thorn in her arms as he puts his head into her chest and begins to shiver seemingly uncontrollable. His eyes sunken and black. His face ghaunt and emaciated. The mist coming from his mouth slows with an unusually long pause between them. Rose begins to rock him in her arms back and forth, lips quivering and tears pooling down at the bottom of her frail jaw line. You stand there unable to move and unable to sense the time passing and then.. silence. Not a shallow breath nor quite cry. Rose opens her arms and Thorn sinks into her lap. She gently pushes against his head, then lifts it tilting it towards hers. She begins to quietly weep once more as she begins to realize that no more breath comes from her brothers mouth and the last gleaning of light that his eyes could emit is now replaced with complete darkness.

Rose gently pushes him off her lap onto the floor. Reaching out beside her she grips the small stuffed bear beside her brother and brings it close. She puts one arm to her side and slowly lowers herself to meet him. Stillness in the air except for the faint sound of stammered and shallow breathing. The light coming through the stained window begins to wane as the moonlight from the sky above is obscured. Moments pass and then darkness. Pure darkness. From the darkness your vision begins to come back as though you were opening your eyes for the first time after a long rest. You suddenly realize you are in the Alter chamber with a mound of flesh before you and your friends at your side.

Strahd's Curse:

  1. Your head begins to fill with noise, flashes, sounds from all sides and suddenly you are overtaken and aware. A moment of silence, you become aware there is no fleshy mound or allies here, however, you are in the same place but with unfamiliar people. Upon the alter a lifeless baby. thick blood grips the stone appearing almost black in the dimly lit chamber.

Hooded figures surround you. Chanting "he is the Ancient, He is the land" in low whispering voices.

a woman in robes kneels before the alter head bowed. You stand there in ankle deep water watching as time passes. Minutes, hours, days you do not know all you know is there is an eternity of time before your keen awareness alerts you to a change within the chamber.

A low mist begins to roll in through the portcullis before it reaches the opposing side of the alter from the woman. It twists and turns appearing to form into a figure looming over the alter and as the mist condenses features begin to appear as though the mist is a thin sheet being pulled back over a human form. An arm appears, legs and black clothing form up from the ground and finally a face. The dim lighting within the chamber exposes the large figure and reveals the face of a man. Middle aged, tall, long black hair and pale white skin. He has a rugged appearance about him, a face aged by what you can only assume is whatever exists beyond these walls. He is dressed in elegant gothic attire and wears a black and red cape draped over his back.

He looks down at the woman and speaks. "My dear Elizabeth... was this little show all for me?"

The woman slowly begins to stand. "No my dear, remain on your knees. This will end so much better if you remember your place".

She drops, with her voice shaking "My Lord, I believed this would finally please you. We have made the ultimate sacrifice. The blood of the most pure and innocent has been given to you, Lord Strahd."

Strahd remains fixed on her, "And you do this all in my honor and not for the revenge you desperately crave? That child, not a true sacrifice, but a bastard with no meaning to you other than contempt. You are truly ignorant to what pleases me, my dear Elizabeth. You pawn this child off as though it is your own and yet it is that of your house servant, is it not? Why should I care for a sacrifice with no true pain and torment attached to it."

Elizabeth attempting to interject "Lord Strahd...."

Strahd's eyes begin to illuminate a bright yellow ring around the iris's and he continues speaking, much more slowly and in a deep commanding tone. "Elizabeth, You must be mindful to never interrupt your Lord. Now, as for this gift you have so eagerly given me. It will grant you what you wish. A truly dark power, but my dear you see I need you to suffer for me because you and this insignificant, petulant, irritating following you have gathered on my behalf shows not a moducum of potential. So you will be immortal and the darkness within your heart will be free, but you will never leave this place. You and your puppets will slowly starve, thirst, lose your feeble little minds, die and wake to decay over and over again. Centuries will pass and all that you are will be forgotten. your lands, titles, coin and lineage will be erased from Barovia and I will be rid of this childish game you play in my name. You are not a Wachter, Elizabeth. You have done nothing of note for me or for Barovia."

Strahd swiftly springs his arms out from under his cloak extending them fully. A mist begins to seep into the chamber through the portcullis and fills the chamber. The mist climbs and becomes unbreathably dense. Everything around you is lost. you reach your hands out to attempt to grab onto something but even your own appendages are consumed by the mist. Your vision fades and you are lost to the endless grey expanse streching out beyond you. You are again met with sounds, and a very different vision that what consumed you. You hear the shouts of your friends and begin to see clearly you are again within the present time facing the Flesh mound before you.
