I've loved Current 93 for so many years. But I don't understand most of it. I get some of the references - I read "The Inmost Light" and I love Louis Wain. But most of it is (intentionally) obscure and occult. I'm sure I'm not the only one. Here's one example of a song I love - Good Morning, Great Moloch. I love the dark vibes and imagery, and I love the figure of Moloch. But I couldn't tell you what it means, or if it means anything, other than that there's some satanic and destructive imagery. It's almost like reading a Georg Trakl poem.
Good morning, great Moloch
Bright nothing, sunflower
Selling your peacocks at the corner of sight
Good evening, bloodmother
Far off and broken
A nexus, a typhon, a walker on stilts
Ship dreaming and arctic
A polar explorer
A seagull and seahorse, crossbred and unborn
Good morning, great Moloch
Great silence, bent river
Driving home darkness at the close of the day
Good evening, bloodfather
Smudged by the twilight
Made iridescent by the tongue of the sea
Quick sleeping equator
A patchwork of terrors
Bound up in brightness through swallowing gold
