Is this kink something that was always there or is there any way it could have developed as the result of something that happened?

I’m 40 and been with my wife for 10 years, I’ve had three other long term girlfriends prior and, if anything, was the opposite - possessive and jealous.

I can pin point an event early in my relationship/ marriage and often thought the feeling I got would weaken with time but it hasn’t and isn’t going to at this stage.

I’m keen to know if it was always there and likely to develop regardless or if day to day events can play a part?
