Was cuckolding more exciting in past?

Cuckolding is exciting because of the humiliation and the tabboo about it, so I'd think let's say 50 years cuckolding would have been more exciting, because society was much less accepting about alternative lifestyles and the shame of being cheated on as a man was bigger.
This also applies to the whole interracial thing, as interracial sex was more of a tabboo and therefore your wife cheating on you with a black guy would be more of a scandal.
