A recent post made me realize that many people here have never heard of Dom Drop and Sub Drop, so I wanted to spread a little knowledge.
Whether you are a cuck, a bull, or a hotwife, there is a HUGE rush of endorphins (short for "endogenous morphine") that comes with any intense sexual activity. Your brain is flooded with chemicals that bond to opioid receptors and it feels amazing. It makes you crave doing it again.
But there is a downside. As time passes, the endorphins get flushed from your system and the intense drug-like high can give way to a mental crash called "drop". It doesn't happen to everyone, or every time, but someone experiencing drop may experience guilt, sadness, loneliness, anxiety, depression, and even a desire to self-harm. It can happen soon after the scene, or it can happen days later.
So what can I do about it??
The most important thing is to be aware that Drop exists, so that you can plan for it and recognize when it's happening to you. Keep in mind that what you are experiencing is a result of a chemical reaction in your brain and that the feelings you are experiencing are not a punishment or a sign that you have done anything wrong.
There's a concept in BDSM known as "Aftercare," and aftercare is one of the first lines of defense against drop. Aftercare involves giving and receiving affection after an intense sexual experience. Things like cuddling, reassurance, and quality time all can serve to prevent the crash, or keep it from being as severe.
If you are alone when you experience drop, self-care also works to reduce the severity of Drop. Things like a warm bath, a walk in the park, a meal of your favorite "comfort food," or whatever else you do when you want to "treat yourself."
