I gotta say, the final product is looking truly impressive

For all the shit we give Wollay on a daily basis (arguably justified to a degree), if you take a look at the update videos, pictures, and posts on twitter/IG in chronological order, it's clear that there is a lot of work being done on this game.

Imagine the programming standpoint of making just one of the procedurally generated dungeons or large cities in this game, with interesting content and no bugs on literally millions of varying possible formations, and that's if you were to place it on a flat surface, which as we know is not always the case in Cube World.

Yes, he could have hired more people into his small team to make the dev time faster. But, isn't this tiny team structure what makes the gameplay, art design, and landscape unique and connected? A larger studio focused on putting out content may have brought variation into the design and idea space. Whether or not that would be good for the project is debatable, but regardless. Once this game comes out it will be an undeniable success. The update memes will eventually fade away into nothing but a veteran experience, because he will have released a finished product.

Sure it's been a long wait, but most of us if not all of us (due to pirating) have had access to the "alpha" demo version. I know personally I have sunk over 250 hours atleast into the demo so far. I certainly got value from the game considering it was only $20.

Again, just look at the update progress! When you watch all the videos in order this just looks like a game that you want to play right now. Every time Wollay releases a new update post on twitter or IG, I get excited all over again. To me, it will be worth the wait. We have to ask ourselves would the game still have had the same wonder, if we played all these 4 years to slowly pace ourselves through each piece of content just as it came out? Wouldn't it be better to have the full experience all at once, where we have the freedom to wander and live through all the content before we get to know it well?

Think about your first night in Minecraft. Hiding away in your basic shelter as night steadily came in was a mystical experience. But it wasn't necessarily because of the dark or the monsters. Once you get your sword and start to fight off the monsters regularly, nighttime is no longer a mystical threat, it's more of a nuisance. It loses that mystic touch that made your first experiences with Minecraft so great. It's because you know the monsters are defeatable, and you know what monsters await you outside, how they spawn, and how to defend against them. It becomes boring, because you've been through all that content before. Imagine, now, that in a new update they add extremely terrifying monsters (unrealistic as its a kids game but still). It would not have any affect on people who had played the game before. To them, it's just a monster, albeit a really hard one. But to a brand new player, that would increase the threat of nighttime tenfold, if they were to attempt to go outside at night for the first time thinking they're ready only to meet a massive terrifying enemy. The same can be said with Cube World. If we had gone through an alpha updating cycle, the game would have died early. But, when you think about it, the fact that it is preserved and being kept in a building state before it's been released, is actually going to give it vibrant life.
