Okay so I will be 41 weeks Sunday, which oh wow thats tomorrow yikes. I have very narrow hips and am a petite girl which has brought up concerns with vaginal birth so I and my family; I live with my mom, her boyfriend, and one of my sisters and have my other sister close by; have been discussing doing a planned c section instead for the last week and finally talked to my doctor about it yesterday and decided to go with it this week. So sometime Monday-Wednesday I will be having a c section to have my daughter be born.
I was hoping the users here could give me some advice and information about planned c sections like the procedure itself, recovery, what to do and not do, ect. I am currently 20 years old and this is my first baby and so far this pregnancy has been completely quiet. Its been easy honestly and I do feel a bit cheated because the only symptom that was normal that I seemed to have gotten was the missed period.
I do not drive, so that will not be an issue, and because I live with family I have help. The baby's dad hasn't been involved and i don't know how to deal with him after I get home, because he is unpredictable and I worry about how he will act towards me and am probably going to ask that he keep his distance for some time while I recover because I really can't see how stress would help after having major surgery.
I know that you aren't supposed to lift anything heavier then your baby, which will be no problem for me since my family is well aware of this and understand. I also know that some women say to use a pillow for the ride home and keep it handy for anytime you laugh, cough, ect because I guess it pulls at the stitches or something. I have a new pillow that is pretty soft and nice that I think I will be using but also have 2 bobbys to use. Though I have also heard a belly binder is good but I don't have the money to get one, or the time really now that I think about it.
I just need information about everything that will happen. And I need advice on how I should do things after the c section and how the recovery should go. Is there anything I should set up to make things easier? What kind of foods should I avoid after? I am a picky eater by the way so this is one thing I am not looking forward to at all. I have a pack n play that has both a changer and a napper and a bassinet so I will be using those, especially the bassinet when I am in the living room. We don't have any stairs except for the 2 leading into the house and I know to avoid stairs at all costs.
I also have 2 dogs, one is an outside dog and she is a put bull and jack russel mix and I think it would probably be better to let my dad(my mom's boyfriend) handle taking her outside and bringing her back in, but I also have a toy poodle who is very hyper active and my mom has 2 shiz zues as well who are all indoor dogs. Is there anything I should be extra careful about with them after the c section?
Also I would like to know about getting active afterwards. I have to go to WIC to add my baby to my thing there and have an appointment for this upcoming Thursday, which I really can't change because I have already rescheduled it twice, so I am going to have to go there after getting out of the hospital and I will have to go to another place. I know I should take it easy and am planning to but there are some places I have to go and from what I have heard walking around is good to help healing but its bad to over do it.
TL;DR: I am sorry this is so long but I really do need the advice and information, as much of it as possible honestly. I am new to this parent thing and am a bit terrified of what it will be like after having the c section and having a newborn to take care of so any help is appreciated. I would love to hear experiences as well if willing to tell them.
