Post Body

So I finally opened up a twitter account to see what all the fuss was about, and to start following crypto stuff. Here are my thoughts on the space

  1. 99% of tweets promising rewards for follows etc are fake and just used to gain a larger audience/following

  2. There's too much toxic positivity in projects and a severe lack of thoughtful discussion. The communities many projects are building are actually cults who's members disseminate the belief that the project will make them rich. This makes the discord/telegram channels boring and repetitive.

  3. The cost of getting involved in robust crypto projects, NFTs, and rewards schemes (especially on the Ethereum network) is often far too high for your average Joe for the level of risk involved. Crypto is touted as the people's fight back against the current system which favours the elite. But crypto also favours the elite for this very

  4. Cost isn't just monetary
The time and education one needs to invest can also be costly and create barriers to access to crypto. This is being addressed by many platforms which provide educational tools, this is a positive step forward.

Now for some positives

  1. More NFT projects are adding more utility than ever before. Creating real value and supporting worthwhile causes, by supporting charities, NGO's and impactful projects in the crypto space.

  2. The only way to really get ahead of the game and learn about new projects and communities is through twitter. There are some great informative and helpful voices in the space. Podcasts, videos, blogs. The only issue is as a newbie it can be hard to know where to look sometimes!

  3. I minted my first NFT thanks to discovering projects through twitter. Something that I would have never found out about without that space!
