How can we improve quality of crypto news?
Post Body

Like most of you, I try to read as much as possible ‘credible crypto news’ or watch credible YouTube channels, of some quality.

As an academic myself, I highly value credible, (somehow) unbiased, quality news. But lately it seems everything is news worthy.

A couple of things I observe:

  • digital crypto news outlets seem to pop up everywhere
  • fake news and FUD seems to be the norm
  • everyone is a so-called ‘crypto analyst’ or ‘crypto influencer’ telling the most stupid things or making the wildest predictions, without any fundamentals, analysis or knowledge
  • these news outlets and these analysts seem to go hand in hand, constantly quoting each other as a credible source.

What amazes me the most (or annoys me the most), is that no one seems to check facts or checks quality anymore. It’s all about statements and opinions of that day or week. E.g. - day ONE - prices dip a little. Headline says ‘crypto analyst John Doe says we are in a bear market and Bitcoin will go to 10k’ - day TWO - prices go up. Headline of that same news outlet says ‘crypto analyst John Doe believes Bitcoin will reach 250k in 2021’

Of course this has nothing to do with credible quality news! And we all start to think that it’s normal. That news and media is about opinions. But it’s not!

So as a crypto community I challenge you (us):

  1. Instead of copying and posting every crypto article here on Reddit, rate the article yourself on credibility, facts and quality.

  2. Post-check analyses and predictions. If an article makes an analyses or does a prediction, let’s check after some time whether it was correct or plain BS. And post that here on Reddit.

That way we help to keeping crypto news healthy and qualitative and credible!

Please leave your comments if you have additional ideas on how to improve the quality of news.
