So, I’m a work from home guy and genuinely miss seeing my work colleagues. Especially one team member in particular. I’ve been crushing on her since the day we met five years or so back. And now, she’s a part of the same work team, so I get the opportunity to talk to her and see her on camera a lot more. It’s only made my crush grow.

I know I’m about 20 years older than her, so I’m certain this will stay a crush. But I hear about relationships with age differences and think that something may be possible. Again, we both have significant others, so I’m just dreaming.

I know I flirt like crazy with her but haven’t done anything more. Tonight, we had a team dinner and sat right across from her. Everyone was talking and having fun, so nothing out of the ordinary. When we left, we were all chatting in the parking lot, and in my peripheral, I thought she was looking at me. This happened a few times. When I finally looked over at her, she was indeed staring at me, wryly smiling.

At first, I diverted my eyes so I didn’t look like I was staring. But then, I actually got brave and held my eyes staring right back and coyly smiling. This went on a few times, but the last time, it was almost like a staring contest—neither of us stopped, exchanging smiles and then just looking at each other. My heart fluttered and wondered if she was feeling it too. It was like time stopped around us.

She is a genuinely nice person, so I always assumed any pleasantries toward me were nothing out of the ordinary. But tonight, seeing her eyes gazing into mine… it made me wonder if she actually liked me back.

Nothing will come of this, but I wish I knew if she had feelings for me as well. I can’t wait to see her again, hopefully sooner than later.
