Post Body

Okay, so many have shared the stories of their exciting games, and although I always enjoyed reading them, formerly I never felt the urge to share mine. That is until now because this last viking ruler of mine was an absolute beast!

The Saga of Hak贸n 'Hideous' Muns枚:

Prince Hak贸n - who is claimed to be descended from the great Ragnar Lodbrok and his son, Bj枚rn Ironside - inherited a realm that was on the brink of collapse. Although his father managed to reclaim the long lost realm of Norway, he did so by sacrificing his reputation and with his departure to the Valhalla, he left the kingdoms in an anarchic state, leaving the work of bringing prosperity for the Northmen to his son.

The newly crowned King Hak贸n had barely anything, but his ambition. His most powerful vassals were conspiring against him to remove him from the throne and sickness also engulfed him. From his sick-bed, he orchestrated a murder scheme that had only 5% chance of success, while allowing experimental treatments being perform on his young body, hoping to find a solution to his worsening condition. With luck of biblical proportion - and by the grace of the gods no doubt -, he managed to send his rival to Hel, thus ending the conspiracy and the treatments also worked, though leaving him disfigured for a life.

In his following years, Hak贸n would expand his domain across all Scandinavia and huge parts of the Baltic area, as well as claiming all of Ireland for the sons of the Allfather. He founded the High Kingdom of Sweden, thus forming the first norse empire.

Despite his frightening appearance, he was known as a very social man, an excellent strategist and a ruthless schemer. Although he never cared much for honor or respect - as he was willing to sacrifice it all for reasons of state -, but he too had his boundaries. Although many contemporaries claimed that he feared no god nor man, the former proved to be utterly incorrect.

As he was nearing the end of his journey in Midgard, his ambition led him to find a new view on the world that surrounded him. He started to indulge in matters of theology and understanding of the gods. He dreamed of reforming the Astar煤 faith and dealing with the false Christ-god once and for all. His devotion towards this grew with each year - some say he went as far as turning towards ritualistic practices and witchcraft. Once every piece was in place, he set off to unknowingly fulfill the dreams of the his ancestor, Bj枚rn Ironside, and take Rome. Not only the Ironside, but all the Aesir must have had sailed with him, for he defeated the Christian forces - and the shredded, absolute Chad of a Pope Nicholas III - countless times on his campaign and finally took the Eternal City.

His last goal however - reforming the Norse faith - remained unachieved, as he left Midgard during the conquest of the last holy site that would have allowed him to do so.

!His entrance to Valhalla however was so grandiose - and probably so will be the changes in the game - that CK3 reported crash!
