I’ve posted a few times about my failures to unite ireland: well last night I did it, thank you to all that answered my questions along the way -
My kingdom however, did not last long.
While I was uniting Ireland; the Danelaw reformed, & the Norman’s were held off. My son extended the kingdom and captured the Hebrides.
His son expanded the faith, & culture of our people, as well as our families connections. Marrying into both the kingdoms of Wales & France... then he died & it all went to hell.
His son spent his first year of ruling focused on developing the realm. Wales gets invaded by the Danelaw, France implodes in civil war. Then Scotland Invades as I send a marriage & alliance proposal; both of my sons die defending the holy isles. The conflicts in France & Wales consume my alies as I desperately wait in Dublin for reinforcements from beyond the sea.
Peace is unreachable... my extended family is imprisoned and executed, I am slain making a final stand in the heart of my kingdom.
My legacy is destroyed, my family forgotten, the last surviving members being from cadet branch formed by my great grandfather’s cousin, the former duke of Leinster.
Vassals, peasants, and raiders now lay waste to my once promising kingdom.
I rose, I fell, I love this game.
