My game keeps crashing on the same date and nothing works

I was invading North Africa with my Hungarians, as you do, and suddenly the game crashed in the middle of the Mediterranean. I kept trying again and again, but come the 11th of February it would always crash. I tried checking the integrity, shuffling the mods around, turning some off but nothing helped. I heard of this complicated process of manually modifying the saved game's text file, but not only do I not understand it, people have said that it only delays the problem a couple months. I am playing with Fallen Eagle and VIET events, if that helps. P.S. If I reinstall the game, will I lose my saved files?
