Need advice...should I try to convince a family member to cruise?
Post Body

Hey everyone. As the title says, I need some advice. I have a cruise booked with my mom for December right before Christmas. It will be my first cruise and my moms second. We are cruising on Royal Caribbean's Symphony of the Seas so it's a big ship. I've been proactive and purchased some pills (recommended by others on this sub) for seasickness just to get ahead of it. I don't want my cruise to get ruined by me getting seasick.

My grandparents are older (mid-late 70's) and recently would travel south for 3 months during the winter to get away from the cold and snow. This year they decided was their last just because of their ages and some other issues they've encountered along the way. They have chose to do a few 1-2 week trips now each winter instead, likely to an all inclusive.

So here is where I need advice. My grandmother is not a fan of boats. She gets seasickness very easily as when she was young she spent a week on a boat migrating over from Scotland. She was sick the entire time, and now this is all she remembers of being on the water/in a boat so she's scared to do it. Any time she has to travel by ferry its 50/50 whether she ends up sick of not.

Anyways, to the point, we would LOVE to bring her and my grandpa on our cruise with us! I know so many people have said that Symphony is so big you forget you're even on a boat, that it's more of a mall/resort type feel. For this reason I figured maybe to get them an interior balcony overlooking Central Park with no views of the ocean.

I'd REALLY love for them to join us...it could be a blast!!! But, we're also worried that if she comes, she will end up sick in her room the whole time which will ruin the mood for the rest of us as we will just be worried about her and feeling guilty for leaving her behind in the room.

Has anyone else here been in my situation, or even better yet hers??? Any help and insight is greatly appreciated! TIA!
