Recently went on 2 different cruises and have narrowed down the type of beaches we like. We are not fans of mega touristy "beach resorts" but rather we like "shanty" type beaches with a beach bar, music, and a $7 rum punch will make me see stars. We like clear waters and tranquil waves, snorkeling opportunities are a bonus but not necessary. Don't care about color of the sand. Donβt care about motorized water sports. Shade and chairs available to rent are a must. Also- would like for said beach loungers to be close to the shoreline- why? Because it's just my husband and I and we like to get into the water together and we like to keep an eye on out things if that makes sense. Recently had that experience at Rainbow Beach in St. Croix AND South Friars Beach in St. Kitts. Those 2 beaches are 10/10 all around. I wasn't crazy about Eagle Beach in Aruba as our chairs were way too far from the shoreline and we couldn't get in the water together so beach was 10/10 asthetically but 4/10 for "experience". Bavaro Beach in Punta Cana would be 10/10 for me but with the pushy beach vendors make it an overall 6/10. Looking for beaches that check these boxes (preferably no more than 30min from cruise ports) in the following places:
Aruba
Barbados
Tortola
St. Maarten
St. Lucia
Antigua/Barbuda
Martinique
Curacao
Puerto Rico (doesn't have to be near San Juan as we will spend an extra day or two here before embarkation)
