Diamond status on MSC after a single cruise

I took a 7 day cruise on MSC recently and somehow managed to get Diamond status after my very first cruise with them.

I know you get points for your onboard spend, but aside from playing in the casino, I spent very little money onboard.

I did lose some money in the casino (~$1500), for which they comped me a cruise in March (which we upgraded to YC for a very reasonable cost), but casino spend is not supposed to count toward your status.

It doesn't look like Diamond status gets me much besides a free specialty dinner and priority boarding (which I already have through YC), but it was a nice surprise.

Has this ever happened to anybody else?
