Should I get a skid plate?

I like the idea of a skid plate. After all, if I'm ordering a new Crosstrek, I'd like to keep the undercarriage safe.
However, I've watched a few videos of owners and mechanics getting underneath the vehicle, and it looks like the underbody is already pretty well covered and protected.
Do you think there is any need for an additional skid plate for dirt, gravel roads, and loose rocks kicking up?
