My dilemma: The manual Crosstrek
Post Body

Fellow Crosstrek Fans,

I am getting ready to Order my 2023 Crosstrek, and I really want a manual transition. I am willing to trade the loss of gas mileage for the human/car connection. It's also a bonus in the Montana winter. However, there is one big problem:

I haven't been able to find anyone who will install an auto-start system, and as all of you know, it's a must with -30F winter lows. I have heard it is possible from several installers, but they don't want to risk any legal liability if something were to go wrong.

I find it odd that you could make the same argument for installing them in automatics. In theory, anything could always go wrong.

In any event, I was told that even if I find an installer (which I haven't), I was looking at an install cost that was anywhere from $800-$1000.

I'm really stuck between a rock and a hard place. Any guidance?
