So I’ve been trying a few new techniques to try and get a smoother look, and I’m pleased with the results! I struggled with getting a smooth look, even after using pore filling primer. I would always have a very textured look with visible pores and creases.
Long story short, I did a bunch of research and came up with these things to help:
Moisturize nightly. I use a PM facial moisturizer before bed.
Hyaluronic Acid Serum. It’s not as scary as it sounds lol. After I shave and use aftershave, I rub in some hyaluronic acid serum. I let it soak in, then rub some of the moisturizer in and let it soak in. The hyaluronic serum draws moisture into the skin, making your skin look smoother, with smaller pores.
Primer. I’ve tried a couple pore filling primers, and what I’ve landed on is “baby skin” by Maybelline. Press it into your pores and smooth it out.
Transparent powder. Use a powder puff to apply some powder to fill in the imperfections. It gives your skin a smoother appearance.
Concealer. I use a little lighter shade than my foundation. I’ve never used concealer before recently, but I’ve found it’s a game changer. I apply it under the eyes, and any other spots I want to brighten (tip of nose, cupids bow, etc).
From there, I apply the liquid foundation with a damp beauty sponge. I cover the entire face, and blend it with the concealer. Having a damp (wet the sponge, then wring it out) sponge makes a huge difference.
From there, I just go about my normal makeup routine!
I also started using a setting spray, but I’m not sure I see a difference.
Either way, I just wanted to share some of my new tricks I’m trying!
